IPL2024: Following DC’s second loss, a “disappointed” Rishabh Pant said that the “best thing we can do is learn.”

After the Delhi Capitals (DC) were defeated by Rajasthan Royals (RR) by 12 runs on Thursday in the Indian Premier League (IPL) at Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur, Rishabh Pant was not happy.

In addition, captain Rishabh Pant, who has played for the Delhi Capitals since 2016, is making his 100th IPL appearance in this game. He is the first member of the team to accomplish this feat in the IPL.

DC captain Rishabh Pant was visibly upset after the game, since it was their second defeat in as many IPL 2024 games.

“Very let down. After the game, Pant said, “Learning from this is the greatest thing we can do from it.

Sent in to bat, Riyan Parag struck seven fours and six sixes on route to smashing a 45-ball 84 not out, his best IPL total. RR rallied from 36/3 in the eighth over to register a formidable 185/5.

Along with Ravichandran Ashwin, who hit three sixes his route to a 19-ball 29, Parag added 54. Along with Shimron Hetmyer (14 not out) and Dhruv Jurel (20), Parag also shared 43 runs.

“Batteries sometimes go on at the death and score quickly; that happened in this game,” Pant remarked. “The bowlers did really well until 15–16 overs.”

Pant said, “There are other options. We wanted Nortje to bowl at the death and sometimes you can go for runs. Hopefully, we can do better in the next match,” when questioned whether he should have gone to South African pacer Anrich Nortje much sooner rather than holding him back for the death overs.

In response, DC collapsed under duress as the bowlers displayed a clinical performance, despite opener David Warner scoring 49 off 34 balls.

Though it was too little, too late, Tristan Stubbs (44 not out) gave it his best shot.

Although Pant acknowledged that DC lost too many wickets in the middle overs, he lauded his opening batsmen, David Warner and Mitchell Marsh, for a “good start.”

“We lost a few wickets in the middle overs, and in the end, we had too many runs to cover up,” he remarked, “but Marsh and Warner gave us a good start.”

The outcome confirmed the pattern in which home clubs had won each of the tournament’s first nine games.
