Pat Cummins showers Nitish Reddy with compliments after SRH’s victory against the Punjab Kings

At the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium in Mullanpur, Chandigarh, on Tuesday, April 9, Sunrisers Hyderabad’s young all-around sensation Nitish Kumar Reddy displayed his batting prowess and helped his team secure its first away victory of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. Reddy faced the Punjab Kings bowlers.

After being moved up to the No. 4 spot in the order, Nitish showed his captain Pat Cummins and the team management how much they could trust him by fighting alone as wickets were falling at the other end and helping the Sunrisers score 182 runs.

In the game’s fourth over, Nitish came to bat and attempted to steady himself. When given the chance, the right-handed hitter hit home runs with impressive grace and poise. On the 32nd ball of his innings, he scored his first IPL fifty, and he did it in style.

The Andhra player demonstrated that moving him up the batting order was the correct call, as he hit a maximum off left-arm spinner Harpreet Brar over wide long-on. With the aid of four fours and five sixes, he amassed 64 off 37 balls while batting at a strike rate of 172.97.

The young player received high acclaim from SRH captain Pat Cummins for his all-around valor on the field of play.

“He had an amazing debut last week. He reached the top of the order quickly, excelled in the field, and also bowled three overs. “It was amazing that he got us to 180 off his bat,” Cummins said at the post-game press conference.

Apart from his impressive batting performance, Nitish also greatly improved his bowling credentials by assisting his side in getting rid of the dangerous-looking Jitesh Sharma. Vice-captain Jitesh of the Punjab Kings was batting on 19 off 10 balls and had a chance to blow the game open, but Nitish’s slower bouncer outplayed him and gave SRH a firm hold on the game.
