Season 3 of the Prime Volleyball League will begin on February 15, 2024, in Chennai
The picturesque city of Chennai will host the much awaited third season of the Prime Volleyball League, which is scheduled to start on February 15th, 2024. The final is scheduled for March 21 at the SDAT Multi-purpose Indoor Stadium in Chennai. Nine franchises, including Ahmedabad Defenders, Bengaluru Torpedoes, Calicut Heroes, Chennai Blitz, Delhi Toofans, Hyderabad Black Hawks, Kochi Blue Spikers, Kolkata Thunderbolts, and Mumbai Meteors, will fight for the coveted trophy.
On February 15, the tournament will begin with the defending champion Ahmedabad Defenders playing the hosts, Chennai Blitz, and the previous year’s runners-up, Bengaluru Torpedoes, taking on the Season 1 champions, Kolkata Thunderbolts. With the debut of Super 5s, the third season of Prime Volleyball League—co-owned and wholly promoted by Baseline Ventures, the top sports marketing company in India—will introduce an innovative new format that promises to be a bigger, better, and bolder version.
The top five teams from the League stage will play each other in a round-robin fashion to decide the final three teams during the Super 5s stage, which runs from March 11 to March 18. The first-place team in the Super 5s will automatically qualify for the Final, while the teams in second and third will play in the Eliminator on March 19. The second team to secure a berth in the Final is the Eliminator champion.
“Ever since its inception, we have always wanted to host an edition of Prime Volleyball League in our city due to its rising popularity,” stated Shri Udhayanidhi Stalin, Minister of Youth Welfare and Sports Development of Tamil Nadu, in reference to hosting the 2018 season in Chennai. The people of Tamil Nadu have a strong affinity for volleyball, and the sport has a great deal of unrealized potential in this region. We firmly believe that their presence here will not only help spark a volleyball revolution in the state of Tamil Nadu, but also encourage the next generation of athletes to consider pursuing a professional career in this sport.
