Sreenidi FC defeats Hyderabad FC 4-1 in a derby for the Kalinga Super Cup

Friday’s Kalinga Super Cup loss for Hyderabad FC was inevitable after Sreenidi Deccan’s dominant first half performance. With a victory, Sreenidi may close the tournament with a win and some points.

Sreenidi Deccan took the game out of Hyderabad FC’s grasp in a scorching opening stretch of play, guaranteeing that they would not score any points at all by the end of the competition. Though it may not be much comfort to Carlos Vaz Pinto, Sreenidi looked better in the opening section than she has all season, in all competitions.

Within minutes of one another, the first two goals were achieved. In the game’s fifth minute, Ibrahim Sissoko rose at the far post to beat his defender and head the opening goal from Faysal Shayesteh’s corner. On the other side of the field, Shayesteh received a second assist from another corner. Eli Sabia met his outswinger flawlessly this time.

If the first two goals were the result of poor defense, the third, which came in the tenth minute, was an incredible play. Lalrowmawia was the recipient of a deft soft touch ball from Sissoko inside the area, and the midfielder made no mistake in curling a first-time effort beyond the goalie. After recovering from an injury, Kean Lewis scored a fourth goal just before the half, dodging a defender and heading in a cross from Rilwan Hassan.

With a spectacular goal in the 83rd minute, Makan Chothe gave Hyderabad a little reprieve, but it was not enough to salvage a miserable season.
