Steve Smith’s vertigo is making him doubtful for the Afghanistan match at the 2023 ICC Cricket World Cup.

After disclosing that he has been experiencing vertigo, top batter Steve Smith is questionable for Australia’s next ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 match against Afghanistan.

It’s simply been a little frustrating that I’ve been experiencing some vertigo symptoms for the last day or two. I’m hoping that I can make it through training today without any problems. However, Smith acknowledged in the pre-game news conference that it’s not a pleasant place to be.

When asked whether he would be ready for the game tomorrow, Smith said he hoped to be ready after the post-network examination.

“It’s not the most enjoyable place to be, but yeah, I’ll go out and have a hit and hopefully be okay and we’ll see how we go,” he said. “On occasion, I’ve had a few episodes.”

Australia is currently third in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 points standings, suffering from the absence of Glenn Maxwell and Mitchell Marsh. A victory over Afghanistan will increase their chances of finishing in this position following the league stages, and if South Africa struggles, perhaps a second-place finish.

Speaking about Maxwell and Marsh’s availability, Smith said that Marsh has returned to the team and would be retraining. He believes that Maxwell, the all-around player, will workout today.

“Max is here as well, and Marsh is here, so yeah, I assume they’re training, but I’m not sure if they’ll be available tomorrow,” Smith added.

Afghanistan, on the other hand, has eight points from seven games and, with two more games to go, a chance to go to the semifinals against South Africa and Australia.
