The cryptic Instagram post by Ravichandran Ashwin after Umesh Yadav’s near-perfect outfoxing of Ajinkya Rahane in the Ranji Final

In the current Ranji Trophy 2024 final between Mumbai and Vidarbha at the Wankhede Stadium, Ajinkya Rahane was almost out for a low score after missing a ball that jagged back after pitching. There was a strong request for LBW.

Leading the pace is Vidarbha Rahane, who had little time to react to the movement as Umesh Yadav delivered the ball perfectly. He didn’t press hard enough to strike the pad. Nevertheless, the appeal was denied by the on-field umpire.

Rahane had one.

Vidarbha reviewed, and the Mumbai skipper was spared by a wicket-hitting ruling made by the umpire. Umesh, of course, looked shocked as he made his way back.

The commentators emphasized Rahane’s tendency to topple over, which made it difficult for him to control the movement.

“The head position of Ajinkya Rahane has to be discussed. It’s hard to play deliveries that cut in as the head goes down. The delivery that comes in will always bother you when your head goes down. That is something Ajinkya has to be cautious about, the analyst said.

According to former Bengal cricketer Joydeep Mukherjee, Rahane’s foot placement suggests he anticipated the ball to arrive immediately after pitching.

“It seems from the foot pointing towards mid-off that he was attempting to keep the ball moving straight rather than swerving back, as the ball would have been much more straight. He hasn’t been able to modify the movement because of the length,” Mukherjee added.

Off-spinner for India Ravichandran Ashwin posted a video of the analysis on his Instagram Story to show that he is watching the current championship match.

In a recent five-match Test series played at home, India destroyed England 4-1, with Ashwin finishing as the match’s top wicket-taker. He proceeded to enter the 100-Test Club and reach the 500-wicket mark in the format throughout the series.
