Vizag wins the carrom tournament overall
The 51st Senior Inter District and State Carrom Championship-2024, which took place at Guntur, saw Visakhapatnam triumph. The State Carrom Association and the Guntur Carrom Association collaborated to organize the competition, which got underway at the LVR Stadium on March 2. The winners in the categories of Women, Men, Veteran Women, and Veteran Men were Venkateswara Rao from Guntur, N Nirmala of NTR district, and MSK Harika and Janardhan Reddy from Visakhapatnam.
Present were Yaganti Durga Rao, the chairman of the Executive Championship Committee, K Padmanabham, the secretary of the Central Organising Olympic Association, Vanakuri Srinivasa Reddy, the vice-president of the LVR and Sons Club, and Elchuri Venkateswarlu, the financial secretary of the LVR Club Carroms Committee.
The top two senior men’s and women’s players, as well as the top six men’s and women’s players overall, will represent Andhra Pradesh in the next National Competition in April, according to general secretary Sk Abdul Jaleel of the Andhra State Carrom Association.
