Why Sanju Samson’s Rajasthan Royal trainer refers to him as “the second MS Dhoni”

Sanju Samson may not yet have a regular berth in the Indian national cricket squad, but he seems to have amassed a sizable following. Samson, who leads the Rajasthan Royals in the IPL, demonstrated his talent in the T20 competition with a number of standout performances over the years, demonstrating that he is a more than suitable captain.

Rajamani Prabhu, the Rajasthan franchise’s fitness trainer, has emphasized Samson’s devotion to his group.

In an interview with Sports Vikatan, Prabhu said that he previously requested Samson to join a major club after the IPL 2021. The offer, however, had no effect on Samson, who said, “I want to make Rajasthan Royals a big team.”

For RR, the IPL 2021 season was indeed one to forget. They only succeeded in winning five of their fourteen league games, ending seventh in the standings, barely ahead of Sunrisers Hyderabad.

Samson, though, believed that his club might bounce back the next year.

According to Prabhu, Samson requested that the team sign some “big players” like Prasidh Krishna, Yuzvendra Chahal, and Ravichandran Ashwin in an attempt to strengthen the team.

Samson’s advice was accepted, and RR used the 2022 mega auction to hire the players he wanted. The strategy was successful, as the Royals made a triumphant return in the IPL 2022.

They defeated Royal Challengers Bangalore in the second Qualifier to advance to the final and place second on the points standings.

Samson and Company, however, were unable to overcome the last obstacle and fell to Gujarat Titans in the championship game.

Samson was dubbed the “second MS Dhoni” by Prabhu because of his keen vision and dexterous judgment.

Samson used over two crores of his IPL winnings, according to his trainer, for the benefit of “domestic players and underprivileged children.”

“More people like Sanju as a person than a player, according to everyone. Because of this, Prabhu stated, “He has a sizable fan following.

Rajasthan, captained by Samson, was unable to match their success from the previous season in IPL 2023. They successfully began the season with a commanding lead and finished among the top four in the first round. However, they lost some ground in the playoff race since they were unable to maintain the pace in the second part of the group stage.
