Rohan Bopanna and Matthew Ebden win the Miami Open men’s doubles championship with ease

NEW DELHI: Indian tennis player Rohan Bopanna and his Australian partner Matthew Ebden showed off their strong relationship as they defeated Marcel Granollers and Horacio Zeballos in straight sets to get to the Miami Open men’s doubles final.

The Australian Open champions, who won the tournament earlier this year, defeated the Spanish-Argentinian combination with impressive efficiency, winning 6-1, 6-4 in the semifinals on Thursday night.

Due to his recent poor play, Bopanna lost his first-round spots in the doubles rankings at the Indian Wells Masters and the Dubai Championships. When the rankings are revised on Monday, however, the Miami semifinal triumph should propel the Indian mainstay back to the top.
After winning the Australian Open, the 44-year-old Bopanna made history by rising to the top of the global rankings. He continues to show off his tenacity and talent on the court, despite his advanced age.
Bopanna and Ebden will be up against some tough competition in the final, which will be Ivan Dodig of Croatia and Austin Krajicek of the United States. Austin Krajicek made it this far after overcoming Kevin Krawietz and Tim Putz of Germany.
In addition to his remarkable record of 25 doubles championships and 63 ATP Tour-level finals, Bopanna is making his 14th appearance in an ATP Masters 1000 final and his first in Miami with this final performance.
In addition, Bopanna and Ebden’s collaboration is about to make its sixth appearance in an ATP Masters 1000 final, highlighting their strong camaraderie and accomplishments on the circuit.
By doing this, Bopanna highlights his lasting impact and commitment to the sport by joining the exclusive company of Indian tennis great Leander Paes as the only Indian player to reach the final of all nine ATP Masters tournaments.
