A deal is signed by the authorities and BPCL to fuel planes at Noida Airport by Bharat Petroleum!

Noida: To ensure a smooth supply to meet the airport’s fueling requirements, officials from the upcoming Noida International Airport announced on Tuesday that they had signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) to construct a specialized aviation turbine fuel (ATF) pipeline. According to those engaged in the arrangement, the greenfield airport is moving forward with plans to start operations by the end of December 2024.

The planned ATF line will initially stretch 35 kilometers.
A statement posted by the airport and BPCL announced that they had formalized a deal on February 20th, which aims to effectively supply the airport’s ATF demand while decreasing carbon emissions. The hub of this endeavor is the Piyala terminal operated by BPCL, which is located near Faridabad, Haryana. According to Noida International Airport, the projected ATF pipeline would first span 34 kilometers and then extend a further 1.2 km within the airport premises.

According to PTI, the statement said, “Once operational, this pipeline will operate on a common/contract carrier basis, ensuring seamless fuel transportation to the airport.”

“This common-use fuel transportation pipeline will ease fuel receipt operations and mitigate emissions by eliminating the need for tank lorry movements, in line with Noida International Airport’s commitment to environmental stewardship,” the statement said.

Since the beginning of aviation in India, BPCL has taken the lead in setting up ATF facilities at airports: Since the beginning of the aviation business in India, the firm has been at the forefront of constructing ATF facilities at airports and associated infrastructure, according to official Sukhmal Jain, Director (Marketing) of BPCL. According to the statement released, he also emphasized BPCL’s commitment to lowering carbon emissions by minimizing fuel transportation via roadways and encouraging a more sustainable trajectory going forward.

Since the beginning of the aviation business in India, Sukhmal Jain said, “The BPCL has been the pioneer in setting up ATF facilities at the airports and allied infrastructure in the country.”

By year’s end, an airport with a single terminal and runway will be operational.
According to officials, the greenfield project, which is located around 75 kilometers from Delhi on the Yamuna Expressway, is expected to be up for business by the end of the year after its first construction phase is over. With only one runway and one terminal, the airport’s first phase will be able to handle up to 12 million people annually.
