Police Constable Arrested for Rape in Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh

According to an official here on Wednesday, a police constable was suspended and charged with rape, which was reportedly done under false pretenses of marriage.

“On Tuesday, a formal complaint of sexual assault was filed against one Shahnawaz, a police constable,” said Superintendent of Police (City) Rahul Bhati. A lady filed a formal complaint alleging that Shahnawaz had sexually assaulted her many times under the guise of marriage.

The district’s Subhash Nagar Police Station is where the FIR has been filed. According to the officer, the Senior Superintendent of Police issued the suspension order for the policeman.
