Samajwadi Party MP for Sambhal, Shafiqur Rahman Barq, passes away at the age of 94

Following a protracted illness, Samajwadi Party Sambhal MP Shafiqur Rahman Barq departed on Tuesday. He was ninety-four years old. Moreover, Sambhal was represented by a Samajwadi Party candidate in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
He’s been an MP five times.

Inquiring about the MP’s condition, SP President Akhilesh Yadav visited the private hospital in Moradabad on February 21. The last month, the SP MP was receiving medical care in Moradabad. “The demise of senior Samajwadi Party leader and several-time MP Mr. Shafiqur Rahman Barq Saheb is extremely sad,” expressed Akhilesh Yadav’s condolences for his passing.

The divisive leader’s remarks have consistently made headlines. Barq has suggested that the BJP is using “political corona” to thwart Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Yatra and accused the Center of engaging in “propaganda” over Covid. Barq has further stated that following their deaths, gangster Atiq Ahmed and brother Ashraf ‘did not get’ justice.
