MoU struck to advance UP’s forensic expertise

Lucknow: To strengthen forensic science expertise in Uttar Pradesh and enable quicker and more accurate crime investigations, the Uttar Pradesh State Institute of Forensic Sciences (UPSIFS) in Lucknow and the Centre for DNA Fingerprinting and Diagnostics (CDFD) in Hyderabad have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).

GK Goswami, an additional director general of police and director of UPSIFS, said that this Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) expands on the first partnership inked in 2017 and strengthens professional training possibilities, research collaborations, and academic exchanges between the two institutions.He said, “To share knowledge and expertise, joint workshops, seminars, and faculty exchange programs will be conducted.” Research on a range of social and legal issues will be conducted collaboratively, advancing the discipline. Students and researchers will have access to CDFD’s DNA profiling expertise, which will support important projects.
In order to address national demands, cooperative training programs will also work to generate proficient forensic science specialists.
Sangeeta Mukhopadhyay, Director of CDFD, was also present when the Memorandum of Understanding was signed.
