Six are in custody for attacking firefighters

Prayagraj: Late on Sunday night, a bunch of armed miscreants attacked a fire department team in Sandwa Somvanshiyan hamlet, which is inside the boundaries of Lilapur police station.

When the fire department squad went to put out fires close to a woodland, the miscreants ambushed them. Six people were arrested by police after filing a formal complaint (FIR) against the six named and 20 others under sections 147, 148, 149, 34, 286, 307, 186, 323, 504, 506, 332, 353, 427, and 436 of the IPC, 7 CLA Act, and sections 3 and 7 of the Prevention of Damage to Public Property Act. The individuals arrested were all residents of Sandwa Somvanshiyan and included Nagendra Bahadur Singh, Jai Karan Singh, Rohit Singh, Sachin Singh, Saurabh Singh, and Anoop Gaur.

In addition, one licenced DBBL pistol was taken by the police, along with two live 0.12-bore rounds, five more cartridges, four axes, one sharp-edged weapon, two sticks, and one spade.
In his First Information Report, the complainant and fire station manager, S. P. Mishra, of Lalganj, said that upon learning of a fire in a nearby forest, a group of firefighters from the station, outfitted with fire tenders, hurried to the scene.
A gang of armed miscreants attacked the firefighters, forcing them to escape for their lives as they worked to contain the fire behind a chicken farm and marigold field.
Investigations are ongoing. According to the police, Nagendra Bahadur and his allies assaulted the firefighters following a disagreement.
