UP Has a Lot of Potential, CM Adityanath Says, Stressing the Need to Find New Revenue Sources for the State

Yogi Adityanath, the chief minister of Uttar Pradesh, underlined the need of developing new income streams for the state on Saturday. He stated that revenue theft is a national loss and that awareness-building is necessary to stop efforts to cheat GST.

“Uttar Pradesh is a place of enormous potential; we should also develop new methods of raising money. The chief minister was cited as stating during a meeting to assess the updated status of non-tax revenue collections in the current fiscal that “coordinated efforts should be made in line with the GST and VAT collection target of Rs 1.50 lakh crore for the current financial year.”

It is important to provide field officers a specific goal in order to enhance revenue collection. The chief minister recommended reviewing this on a weekly or monthly basis. “I’ll continue to do quarterly reviews. The respective departments must use all reasonable efforts to achieve the objective level of revenue collection, he added.

Adityanath suggested that tough measures be implemented to stop the production and sale of illicit alcoholic beverages. According to him, such activities need to be prohibited in all neighbourhoods, and liquor stores ought to be kept away from roads, schools, and places of worship.

Vehicles used for mining operations should never be overloaded, according to the chief minister. The state’s non-tax revenue collection is steadily rising as a result of planned measures. According to him, more than Rs 46,000 crores in income have been brought in so far in the first quarter of the current fiscal year via a variety of methods. This may be considered acceptable, and according to Adityanath, the funds raised from the general population would be used to advance the state.
