UP man receives death penalty for raping and killing 4-year-old daughter

A 35-year-old man was given the death penalty by a special POCSO court in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, for raping and killing a four-year-old child, describing the case as one of the “rarest of rare.”

Such a crime not only violates the law, human rights, and social norms but also undermines the social order. The perpetrator of such a crime warrants the worst penalties possible, the court said in its judgment on Wednesday.

The culprit was also given a 1.2 lakh rupee fine, which will go to the victim’s family.

“Dhruv Rai, special judge (POCSO), has ordered that the accused be hanged till death under IPC section 302 and section 6 of POCSO Act with a fine of Rs 1 lakh; seven-year imprisonment under section IPC 201 with Rs 20,000 penalty,” said assistant district government attorney Bharat Sharma.

In April of this year, a four-year-old child was raped and killed in the Bulandshahr neighborhood of Jahagirabad.

Mohd Faheem, according to SSP Bulandshahr Shlok Kumar, lured the little girl to his home as she was playing outside, raped her, and strangled her to death.

“The girl’s relatives reported her to the police after she vanished while playing inside the home. When the police arrived, the neighbors told them that they had seen the girl with Faheem, who lived nearby. The girl’s corpse was found at Faheem’s home later that evening. He had concealed the corpse, which was covered with many bite marks, beneath a bed, the SSP said.

The girl was raped and killed, according to the post mortem report, which was received the same night the suspect was allegedly apprehended by police.

The accused has been detained since his arrest in April, according to SSP.
