According to a study, drinking alcohol even once a day may be harmful to your health

There are many scientific studies describing the advantages and disadvantages of alcohol for health. According to the most recent studies, drinking only one glass of alcohol per day may increase blood pressure and impair cardiovascular health, even in those who do not already have high blood pressure. One alcoholic drink a day may harm cardiovascular health by boosting blood pressure, according to a recent multinational research.

This study, which was published in the American Heart Association journal Hypertension, is based on information from seven studies involving more than 19,500 persons in the United States, Korea, and Japan who are between the ages of 20 and 70. They show a connection between a person’s daily alcoholic beverage intake and a rise in blood pressure over time, even in those who do not have hypertension. Even one alcoholic drink a day may increase blood pressure, according to the research.

When comparing those who consumed little amounts of alcohol to those who did not, we observed no positive impacts. The study’s senior author, Marco Vinceti, MD, PhD, a professor at the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia and an adjunct professor at Boston University, says, “We were somewhat surprised to see that consuming an already-low level of alcohol was also linked to higher blood pressure changes over time compared to no consumption — although far less than the blood pressure increase seen in heavy drinkers.

Over the course of an average of more than five years, the researchers thoroughly compared the health information of persons who frequently drank alcohol with that of those who did not. They discovered that individuals who drank an average of 12 grams of alcohol per day, or roughly one glass of wine, observed a 1.25 mmHg increase in their systolic blood pressure, compared to those who drank an average of 48 grams per day, who saw a 4.9 mmHg increase. The researchers do point out that only men showed these connections; females did not.

Despite the fact that alcohol is not the only cause of blood pressure rises, our research shows that it does so significantly. Avoiding alcohol altogether is preferable than limiting your use of it, says Marco Vinceti.

The World Health Organization (WHO) estimates that in 2016, alcohol addiction was a factor in more than 3 million fatalities worldwide.
