“Effective Immediately, I Quit”: Employee Steps Down Following Rude Message From Boss

There are a variety of reasons why workers choose to leave their positions. While some are concerned with advancement, others are looking for a higher salary, and yet others are torn between the office rules and work culture. While some businesses choose to let go of their employees, workers may also submit their resignation and specify why they are leaving.

In a similar spirit, a frustrated worker recently recounted on Reddit how they resigned their job after receiving a nasty request from the company’s manager to “bugger off.” The office goer announced their immediate departure from the firm by sharing a snapshot of their email.

“Well, I left my job this morning. “Not much fallout so far,” the Reddit user said as a caption on the website. The former worker’s email to the office administrators said, “I’m quitting effective right now. And you’ll never tell me to (slang) off again, Anthony. I appreciate your time. Giving more background, the individual who left comments said that, since he was working from home, things became worse when he called his supervisor “for support of a new computer to get access.”

That his former employee did not set up the computer during his leisure time infuriated the employer. The supervisor asked the Reddit user to (slang) off when he said he wasn’t working for free. The disgruntled worker said, “Told him I quit as soon as he told me to (slang) off for the last time.” The user also said that the business had not yet responded to his resignation letter.

After the email screenshot was posted on Reddit, the post has received more than 43,000 upvotes. Even more users came out in favor of the staff member. One individual said, “I really should have written, ‘Thank you for your feedback, Anthony, I’ve decided to follow your advice, effective immediately.'” Another person advised the staff member to “take a good rest” now that the worst was passed. “My only issue with quitting like that is that the people who pushed you to do it really don’t care and/or are happy afterward,” another person said. They are screwed with my leaving, in my perfect world.
