Zomato’s Emotional Reaction To The Crying Delivery Man Who Accused of Having His Account Blocked

It’s not simple to make a livelihood as a food delivery agent. A distraught Zomato employee recently surfaced on X (formerly Twitter), alleging that the firm had disabled his account just before his sister’s wedding. The Zomato employee’s snapshot was uploaded by X user Soham Bhattacharya, who commented, “He was crying like anything near GTB Nagar, going to everyone and asking for some money.” He claimed to have eaten nothing as he was reserving everything for her nuptials. The individual informed Bhattacharya that since his Zomato account was disabled, he had been employed by Rapido, Bhattacharya said. He asked people to share the delivery man’s account QR code with others in order to support him.

After being posted on March 28, this post quickly gained popularity, receiving over 2.9 million views in less than a day. “We deeply value our delivery partners and we understand the impact that actions like blocking an ID can have,” the meal delivery firm responded in writing. You may be sure that we treat these issues seriously. We promise to investigate this. We value our delivery partners just as much as our clients. Soham Bhattacharya or Zomato have not provided any updates on the matter so far.

Many individuals criticized Zomato in the comments for placing its delivery partners in a difficult situation. “Please unblock his Zomato account; the working class is the backbone of our society and economy,” said a user from X. Their daily battle is to make ends meet before they have to work and earn money. Their available funds are insufficient for them to live a comfortable life. What makes a person able to exist on nothing?

“You better value delivery partners,” another person commented. Your treatment of them simply demonstrates how much you regard your clients. This is not the first instance when a delivery partner’s powerlessness has been exposed.

“It’s so sad to see that this is probably happening on a daily basis, riders getting blocked and they have no reason why or how to reverse this action,” said a Zomato user who was demanding stronger regulations. Given that Zomato has grown to be a massive employer at this pace, they need to be doing much better. Riders want more assistance.

Delivery workers have often demonstrated against businesses such as Swiggy and Zomato for their harsh fines and exploitative salaries. When a rider doesn’t follow the business’s unclear standards or doesn’t fulfill challenging goals, Zomato often blocks their account, making it impossible for them to continue working for the firm.
