BIHAR

Back on home soil, Tejashwi slams the BJP and denies rumors of unrest within the “Mahagathbandhan”

Tejashwi Yadav, the deputy chief minister of Bihar, said on Sunday that the CBI’s chargesheet against him was a part of “tactics” used by the BJP to damage the character of its rivals.

Yadav denied rumors of a split among the state’s governing “Mahagathbandhan” at a press conference after returning from an extended vacation. He blamed the rumors on “media outlets acting as BJP spokespersons.” Lalu Prasad, the leader of the RJD, opted to remain mute while Yadav spoke at the airport in this city, allowing the son and heir apparent to take the lead.

Since Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and I joined forces, the BJP has been uneasy. The case against me is without merit. We all have a solid grasp of the game. In the Lok Sabha elections the next year, the BJP will get a suitable reaction, according to Yadav.

When the Central Bureau of Investigation released a new chargesheet in the land-for-jobs scam last week, naming him as an accused party alongside his father and mother Rabri Devi, he was already away from home.

Yadav also dismissed media reports that said there were problems in the current coalition and that Kumar, the head of the JD(U), could propose yet another rejoining of the BJP-led NDA.

The rumors started after a number of incidents, including a meeting between the chief minister and Harivansh, the deputy chairman of the Rajya Sabha who is a member of the JD(U) but appears to be leaning towards the BJP, and a fight between Chandra Shekhar, the state’s minister of education, and K K Pathak, the department’s additional chief secretary, an IAS officer who is known to have Kumar’s trust.

A mention of Kumar’s dissatisfaction with the RJD-led “Mahagathbandhan” in 2017, when Yadav’s name first surfaced in the land-for-hotels scandal, has also been made.

However, Yadav claimed, “Nitish ji, Lalu ji, and I are political disciples of late Karpoori Thakur. His boss has essentially declared us his political successors.” We are aware of the BJP’s strategies and will not be frightened.
