Governor of the RBI Sitharaman will co-chair the G20 FMCBG meeting in Gandhinagar

A meeting of the G20 Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors (FMCBG) will be held here on July 17–18, and an official has announced that Reserve Bank of India (RBI) Governor Shaktikanta Das and Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman would co-chair.

The G20, which consists of 19 nations plus the European Union, is being presided over by India at the time of these negotiations.

66 representatives from all around the globe will attend the important meeting, which will concentrate on topics relating to the world economy and the international financial system.

The work completed under several work streams in accordance with the directive given at the first FMCBG conclave held in Bengaluru in February would be completed during the third G20 Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors (FMCBGs) conference.

The meeting’s importance and goals were emphasised by Ajay Seth, secretary of the Department of Economic Affairs, Ministry of Finance.

The summit is anticipated to draw 520 people from 66 delegations.

The conference will be divided into five theme sessions that will address important subjects such international taxes, sustainable finance and infrastructure, the global economy and health, and the inclusion of the financial sector.

The volume 1 report of the G20 Independent Expert Group on Strengthening MDBs, advancements in the debt treatment for nations under the Common Framework, and a guidance note for creating a globally coordinated framework for the regulation and supervision of crypto-assets are among the main deliverables that will be discussed at the meeting.

A cultural programme exhibiting India’s numerous cuisines and rich culture will also be presented, in addition to courses on a variety of themes.
