India Can Increase Employment In Game Development And Esports: CII

Delhi, New: Experts at the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) believe that more employment may be produced in the nation in the esports and game development sectors, even though the gaming business in India is expected to expand significantly.

R. Dinesh, President of CII, said at the just-ended India Gaming Show in Pune, “India has immense potential to forge new pathways in intellectual property, paving the way for the creation of more jobs in esports and game development.”

Dinesh underscored the importance of this emerging industry, predicting rapid expansion in the next few years. He emphasised the industry’s revolutionary journey in video games and eSports, stating that its significance is growing on both a national and worldwide level.

More than 70 exhibitors from ten nations participated in the sixth edition of the India Gaming Show, which included Indonesia as a guest nation for the first time.

Despite having a market share of less than 1% at the moment, India’s gaming industry has enormous growth potential,, according to current trends in console, PC, and mobile gaming.

According to Dinesh, India has “the exceptional chance to lead the creation of custom games, guaranteeing that both international and native products achieve worldwide acclaim.”

Crucially, a competent policy framework is needed for this emerging industry, according to CII Director General Chandrajit Banerjee.

“Socialising responsible gaming practices to educate the populace and promote ethical usage,” he underlined, was crucial.

In addition, Banerjee emphasised the value of innovation and skill development for the industry in terms of expanding the talent pool and improving the demographics, which has resulted in a notable 49% rise in the proportion of women working in the field.
