Online gambling platform Spartan gambling fires 125 workers, which has a 28% GST effect
Spartan Poker is apparently the third online poker platform to fall prey to the government’s 28% GST on online gambling, after Mobile Premier League (MPL) and Hike’s Rush gambling.
On Friday, Money Control stated that 125 employees, or 40% of Spartan Poker’s staff, had been let go.
Users may participate in online poker tournaments at Spartan Poker, which was founded by Amin Rozani, Sameer Rattonsey, and Peter Abraham.
Hike, a business started by Kavin Bharti Mittal, let go of approximately 55 employees last week.
The 400% rise in GST, according to Mittal, is “a bazooka pointed at us.”
Rush Gaming Universe (RGU), a real money gaming platform powered by Blockchain, is run by Hike.
As the 51st GST Council meeting remained steadfast on taxing online gambling at 28% of gross value collected, indigenous online gaming platform MPL earlier reduced its staff by over 50%, which would affect around 350 employment.
Industry participants have complained that taxing deposits’ GST rather than the technology platform commission fees collected by the corporations would destroy 80% of the industry’s unit economics.
