New Delhi: Do you recall the online saying, “Pics or it didn’t happen”? That might very likely change to “went viral or it didn’t happen” in 2023. This year, the pop-culture domain in India saw a number of viral phenomena. Some viral hits made people grin, while others were moments that baffled internet users. This year has seen a variety of highly unique viral phenomena, from the return of the legendary Zeenat Aman to Alia Bhatt’s lipstick hack that sparked misogynistic articles and blog postings. An in-depth look at some of the most popular pop-culture incidents and figures of 2023.

Orry’s Sweet Life
Orhan Awatramani, often known as Orry, would win a competition if there were one since he gave us some of the most memorable events [and strange phone case designs] of 2023. The socialite, who is Bollywood’s best friend, not only appeared as a guest on Bigg Boss 17 and as a subject of debate on Koffee With Karan episodes, but she also provided the internet with a ton of memorable quotes.

A portion of the internet just aspires to be a “liver” like Orry because of him. No, not the organ, just the idea of being. “You apply for jobs; you work as a jobber. You are a painter; you paint. I am a liver, and I am alive. Yes, I am a liver,” Orhan Awatramani said in a video, and it goes without saying that the internet gave it a lasting viral moment.

Orry has also given Bollywood fans all around the globe a lot to be grateful for since he has shared behind-the-scenes photos from every major event. And no one was safe from Orry’s selfie camera—not even Salman Khan or Isha Ambani.

Zeenat Aman’s comeback
Zeenat Aman, a Bollywood actress from the 1970s and 1980s who captivated audiences with her magnetism on film, chose to improve the internet by creating an Instagram account. She is an online phenomenon because to her real candor, gorgeous photos, moving words, wise counsel, and expert tales. Acting parts and commercial collaborations followed, all of which had the distinctive Zeenat flair for which her admirers are grateful.
Following Uorfi’s lead
Who is Paris Hilton and Kim Kardashian? Introducing Uorfi Javed, the fashionista whose unique style choices seem to have the internet in a stupor and the paparazzi on quick dial. With her outlandish outfits constructed of newspaper stubs and cigarette buds and her candid response to her critics, some of whom were celebrities, Uorfi’s online persona has become legendary on the internet and has inspired several viral videos.

How this Instagram audio earworm became popular is unknown. Some of the greatest personalities in entertainment quickly became aware of the phrases, “So beautiful, so elegant, just looking like a wow,” which began as a lighthearted but impassioned sales presentation for an outfit by a lady called Jasmeen Kaur. Supermodel Ashley Graham of the United States and Indian actress Deepika Padukone have both fervently lip-synced to the catchy phrases on social media.
Two of the biggest movies in Hollywood for a while, Oppenheimer by Christopher Nolan and Barbie by Greta Gerwig, decided to compete at the box office in July. Both movies offered an amazing ensemble of stars and subjects that are well-liked throughout the globe, although for quite different reasons. The two movies’ rivalry and Mattel’s aggressive marketing activities created a meme monster known as Barbenheimer content. Barbenheimer memes dominated the internet crossover and how, combining stills from the two movies to create posters for a single movie called Barbenheimer and character crossovers.
“Get rid of that,” says Alia Bhatt
During a cosmetic routine video, one of the most prominent actresses in the nation, Alia Bhatt, gave us one of the most viral moments of 2023. In a video posted to promote her film Heart of Stone, Alia Bhatt offered some cosmetic advice. She said in the video that she usually rubs off her lipstick after applying it heavily, leaving a faint residue behind. Everything is going OK so far.

The internet goes to Imran Khan.
Known for his roles in movies like Delhi Belly, I Hate Luv Storys, and Jaane Tu… Ya Jaane Na, Imran Khan was last seen on the big screen in Katti Batti (2015). In response to an Instagram post honoring him, Imran Khan said that he would only take up acting again if a remark he left on the post received one million likes. Fans were still waiting for his return. Following the overwhelming amount of affection and likes, Imran Khan said, “The truth is, it was never about a million likes.” I chose the figure since it appeared impossible to achieve and I could simply quietly back out again, no questions asked, as it would never happen. I had no idea that so many of you would take it up and continue it. I didn’t think anybody would still care enough to get in touch with me and tell me they still had faith in me after all this time. I am humbled by your love.

The enigmatic Imran Khan has resurrected his Instagram account and is sharing facts and tales about his past work as fans are still waiting for an announcement regarding his next film.

Become acquainted with Malti Marie.

Although Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas welcomed their daughter in 2022, fans weren’t able to see the child’s face until January 2023, which was after the child became one year old. Maltese Marie made her face public on a global platform when Nick, Kevin, and Joe Jonas became the first brothers to be inducted into the renowned Hollywood Walk of Fame. Malti Marie, as adorable as a button on her mother’s lap, was supporting her father and uncles from the front row.

Kaavaalaa: Dancing to the music of Tamannaah Bhatia

Tamannaah Bhatia, an actress, has shown her abilities as one of the best dancers in Indian film on several occasions. Thus, when she made an appearance in a special song in one of the year’s biggest films, Jailer, starring Rajinikanth, it quickly went viral. Kaavaalaa became viral, with everything from the FC Barcelona official Instagram account posting a video of children dancing to the song to Japanese Ambassador Hiroshi Suzuki swaying to the tunes.

Jaya Bachchan vs the Press

It would be an understatement to say that Jaya Bachchan and the paparazzi have a love-hate relationship. The seasoned actress is known to snap at photographers who are too near or too noisy at events since she doesn’t have much tolerance for them. During the July premiere of Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani, Jaya Bachchan became enraged with the camera crew for yelling directions at her. “I’m not deaf,” she said. Not unexpectedly, the video went viral.

Similarly, Jaya Bachchan retaliated against the photographers during the premiere of her grandson Agastya Nanda’s first movie, The Archies, by telling them to stop yelling before she and Tina Ambani posed for photos. Memes were born out of this video’s viral success as well.
For her part, Jaya Bachchan has never hidden her affection for the media. “I hate it,” she murmured. I hate it. I hate the folks that offer such items to satisfy their tummies and meddle in your private life. I detest it and find such individuals repulsive. On a podcast edition of her granddaughter Navya Naveli Nanda’s What The Hell Navya, I usually tell them, “Aapko sharam nahi aati hai (Don’t you feel ashamed?)” The memes go on from there.
