‘The Night Manager 2’s’ Tillotama Shome on Her Face-Off Scene with Anil Kapoor: To get in this position where I had this opportunity, I had to wait for 20 years

On June 29, “The Night Manager Part 2” was launched on the massive OTT service Disney+Hotstar. The characters contribute more in the second half, which has more turns and twists. Well, there has been talk of a scenario in which Anil Kapoor’s character Shailendra Rungta alias Shelly, who engages in illicit weapons trade, and Tillotama Shome’s character Lipika Saikia, a RAW officer, square off.

One of the finest situations from the whole series can be seen in one of the episodes when Lipika is seated directly across from Shelly.

Prior to the publication of “The Night Manager Part 2,” Garima Das of Outlook talked with Tillotama in which she discussed working with AK. Shome has nothing but appreciation for the actor.

She said, “Lipika’s character has waited for years to have a face-off with this man she has been obsessed with,” while referring to the face-off moment with Kapoor. She had been anticipating that day for years, but it took me, an actor named Tillotama, 20 years to get to the location where I had the chance to collaborate with a longtime entertainer who had reinvented himself repeatedly throughout the course of each decade to stay current. Hats off to his perseverance, curiosity, and capacity to continuously changing course.

The actress said, “It feels like poetic justice you know that after 20 years of doing independent cinema, I got the chance to do this big mainstream show and got the opportunity to work with a man who has entertained us for decades.”

A portion of the audience described Tillotama’s persona in Part 1 as “irritating” for the uninitiated. It’s alright, she said in response to this. There are also a lot of positive remarks. I believe it to be crucial, yet I am also conscious of the reality that many people find it grating when a clever woman insists on having her way. I would take it positively if someone claimed my character was annoying, but it’s also wonderful when people say they didn’t enjoy your performance. Additionally, it merits consideration. I believe that receiving praise eventually turns into an echo chamber, and you don’t really learn anything from it.

The Night Manager, written and directed by Sandeep Modi, also features Aditya Roy Kapur, Sobhita Dhulipala, Saswata Chatterjee, and Ravi Behl in significant parts.
