Throwback to the day Amitabh Bachchan’s practical joke made Shakti Kapoor cry on the “Satte Pe Satta” sets

Shakti Kapoor told a tale of how Amitabh Bachchan and his co-stars in the film Satte Pe Satta played a practical joke on him as they were recording the song “Dukki Pe Dukki Ho.”
Shakti Kapoor, who gained notoriety in the 1980s and 1990s for his comic and villainous performances in films, has previously discussed a humorous event that occurred during the 1982 filming of “Satte Pe Satta.”

In an interview with Digital Commentary, Shakti said that at his zenith in Bollywood, he was quite possessive and picky about the lines and sequences he did in films. However, due to his attitude during the “Satte Pe Satta” shooting, Amitabh Bachchan and a few other actors decided to pull a practical joke on him.
While working alongside seven other actors, Shakti Kapoor felt a bit uneasy and went to director Raj N. Sippy for solace. Declaring that he was every bit as gifted as Amitabh Bachchan, the director comforted him. Shakti also recalled how he stammered throughout his lines, which helped his persona stand out.
Shakti said that Amitabh Bachchan and his co-stars had pulled a practical joke on them, saying, “We were shooting the song “Dukki Pe Dukki Ho.” The tune had my second line. As I waited for my signal, I saw that Amitabh Bachchan was reciting my line. I thought, ‘My conversation is being spoken by Amitabh. My professional life is over. He is a star, in my opinion; he is capable of anything. He accepted my speech. “This is not fair,” I protested to the director. When the six actors—who were seated behind the bush—saw that I was sobbing, they began to applaud and said, “Saale mazak kia hai.” (We’re just kidding.) The camera was not in motion. They believed that Shakti Kapoor was taking my words and situations very seriously. Then, Amitabh Bachchan said, “Nahi toh mar jaega yeh,” asking the director to give me a couple more shots. (If not, he will perish.)
The well-known Indian film “Satte Pe Satta” was released in 1982. Produced and directed by Romu N. Sippy and Raj N. Sippy, it’s a comedy-action hybrid. Amitabh Bachchan, Hema Malini, and Amjad Khan are the key stars. Seven rather rough-and-tumble brothers are the subject of the narrative. When Indu (played by Hema Malini), the eldest brother Ravi Anand’s (played by Amitabh Bachchan) wife, enters their lives and attempts to bring them up to date, their lives are transformed. Things become complex when Seema Singh, a rich lady in a wheelchair, is given the task of killing a guy called Babu, who looks just like Ravi, by her crafty uncle Ranjit Singh (played by Amjad Khan). The film, which is regarded as a masterpiece in Indian cinema, is based on the story of the 1954 American picture “Seven Brides for Seven Brothers.”.
