British Man Locates Mother After A Long Absence Only To Find Out She’s Gone

Steven Smith, a 43-year-old British native, has long yearned to establish a relationship with his mother, who has been mysteriously absent since his adoption as a baby. After years of seeking, a life-altering discovery was made: a DNA test identified his mother, Daphne Morfydd, who had been missing for a long time, according to the BBC.

Steven, overcome with excitement, made the decision to surprise her in March 2021 at her house. But the happiness of this long-awaited reunion was sadly dashed. Steven discovered Ms. Daphne dead on the bathtub floor as he entered her Bethnal Green apartment.

Steven is devastated by this unexpected loss, and his anguish is exacerbated by the fact that his trip remains unfinished. He is now searching for his biological father in the hopes of meeting at least one of his original parents, driven by an unwavering desire to comprehend his lineage.

“I was born in 1980 at St David’s Hospital in Carmarthen, and when I was only three months old, my mother and I relocated to East London. I was put into care not long after, and I didn’t learn about it until I was a teenager,” Steven told the BBC.

It turns out that my birth certificate listed me as Jason Jones, but my mother’s name was Daphne. It was very unexpected.”

He continued by saying that social services had misplaced his adoption case file, thus clouding the facts about his origins.

Steven, who had relocated to Essex by then, remarked, “I did a DNA test in 2021 that revealed I had a half-brother I never knew about—it turns out he’d just done a similar test himself.”

“What is more, he was living barely 30 minutes up the road from me.”

He discovered that he had a half-sister who was aware of his mother’s whereabouts.

“I was given an address in Bethnal Green, Tower Hamlets, and I waited until the Covid restrictions had lifted before going over there,” Steven told the BBC.
