If a hostage agreement is made, Israel is prepared to end the conflict in Gaza during Ramadan: Biden

President of the United States Joe Biden said that if an agreement is made to free some of the terrorists’ prisoners, Israel would be ready to end its attack on Hamas in Gaza during the forthcoming Muslim fasting month of Ramadan.

A framework agreement is being negotiated by representatives of the US, Egypt, and Qatar. It calls for the release of Palestinian captives and a six-week ceasefire in return for Hamas releasing some of the dozens of hostages it currently possesses. Talks concerning the release of the other captives would go on during the brief stoppage.

Israeli officials did not respond right away to Biden’s remarks, which were made public early on Tuesday.

March 10, or the beginning of Ramadan, is thought to be the unofficial deadline for reaching a cease-fire agreement. Throughout the globe, hundreds of millions of Muslims fast from sunrise to sunset during this month-long period of increased religious devotion.

Biden said on Monday that he was hoping for a solution to end hostilities by the end of next week. Talks concerning the release of the remaining hostages and other Palestinian detainees detained by Israel would take place during this break.

throughout an interview on NBC’s “Late Night With Seth Meyers,” Biden said, “Ramadan is approaching and there has been an agreement by the Israelis that they would not engage in activities during Ramadan as well, in order to give us time to get all the hostages out.” Biden did not, however, demand an end to the conflict, which was started on October 7 after a fatal Hamas strike on southern Israel.

In Rafah, on the southern Gazan border with Egypt, where over half of Gaza’s 2.3 million residents have fled due to Israeli evacuation orders, he left open the possibility of an eventual Israeli ground invasion.

Concern about the fate of the residents stuck in Gaza due to the possibility of an invasion of Rafah has spread around the world. According to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Israel’s plan to destroy Hamas would inevitably include a ground campaign in Rafah.

On Monday, Biden said that he thought Israel had eased off on the bombing of Rafah. They must, and they have promised me that they would ensure that a sizable percentage of Rafah may be evacuated before they go to eliminate the remaining Hamas. however it’s a procedure,” he said.
