Increased deaths among civilians in Ukraine

On Sunday, there were more civilian deaths around Ukraine, and experts cautioned that if US military support was delayed, Kyiv would find it difficult to repel Russian offensives. A Russian drone struck the vehicle a man was driving in the Sumy area on Sunday, resulting in his death. According to Governor Vadym Filashkin, a 67-year-old lady died in Donetsk as a result of shelling.

Authorities in the Kharkiv area also reported on Sunday that they had recovered the remains of a 68-year-old man and a 61-year-old woman who had been killed the day before by a Russian attack. Overnight, ten Russian drones similar to the Shahed type were shot down over the Kharkiv area, the Ukrainian Air Force said on Sunday.

Meanwhile, according to Moscow-installed commander Vladimir Saldo, two people were killed by shelling on Sunday in the Russian-occupied Kherson province. There have also been reports of Ukrainian drones above the Black Sea and in the Russian districts of Belgorod and Krasnodar. The announcement was released concurrently with a warning from the Washington-based think tank Institute for the Study of War that Ukraine’s capacity to rebuff Russian advances will be progressively hampered by delays in receiving military support from the West.
