This is the rationale for Kerala’s vote in the Russian presidential election

Voting for the Russian presidential election was conducted by Russian residents living in Kerala in a booth set up especially at the Russian House, the Honorary Consulate of the Russian Federation, in Thiruvananthapuram.

The Russian House in Thiruvananthapuram’s director and honorary consul, Ratheesh Nair, said that they had set up polls for the country’s third presidential election. He thanked the Russian residents of Kerala for their assistance in the voting process.

“This is the third time the Consulate of Russian Federation is hosting polling for the Russian presidential election,” Nair said in an interview with ANI. Actually, this is for both the visitors and the Russian nationalists who are lodging here. We are pleased to collaborate with the Russian Federation’s Central Election Commission. I really appreciate Kerala’s Russian population’s participation and eagerness to vote in the process of choosing their next president.”

The Senior Consul General of Sergey Azurov in Chennai said, “We are doing early voting as part of the presidential election framework. Our purpose in coming to India is to give the people of the Russian Federation a chance.”

Russian national Ulia said her fellow countrymen in Kerala are appreciative to the Russian house and consulate general in India for giving them the chance to vote in the presidential election.

Ulia claimed, “Everyone who came today are Russian citizens either residing in India permanently or are visiting tourists,” in an interview with ANI. Everyone is excited and grateful to be here to take part in the election, which is crucial for all citizens. It is our duty to do this. We are thus grateful that the Russian house and the general consulate of Chennai in India have given us this opportunity.”

Russia’s presidential election is scheduled for March 15–17. Voting for Russian nationals will take place in all 11 of the country’s time zones from Friday to Sunday. Only three candidates were authorized by Russia’s Central Election Commission to run against Russian President Vladimir Putin, according to CNN.

Leonid Slutsky of the Liberal Democratic Party, Vladislav Davankov of the New People Party, and Nikolay Kharitonov of the Communist Party are the three contenders opposing Putin. None of the three men are opposed to Russia’s military operation against Ukraine, and they are all seen as being sufficiently pro-Kremlin.

Putin’s win is almost certain since most opposition candidates are either dead, imprisoned, exiled, prohibited from competing, or are just symbolic individuals, according to a CNN report.
