UK: Four Men of Indian Heritage Accused of Murdering a Delivery Driver

Following an incident in Shrewsbury, Western England, four men of Indian descent have been convicted guilty of the murder of a delivery man who was also of Indian descent.

When local police responded to accusations of an incident in August of last year, they found 23-year-old Aurman Singh dead at the site and arrested four individuals on suspicion of murder. Charges for Singh’s murder were brought against Arshdeep Singh, Jagdeep Singh, Shivdeep Singh, and Manjot Singh, all of whom are in their 20s, and who were carrying axes, hockey sticks, and shovels.

Detective Chief Inspector (DCI) Mark Bellamy of West Marcia Police said in a statement, “The attack on Aurman Singh was planned and organized by a group of men who armed themselves with weapons and used a level of violence that can only suggest they intended to kill him.” He said, “They picked a spot where they knew he would be and laid in wait before carrying out the brutal attack in broad daylight.” They did this by using inside knowledge.

Following a six-week trial at Stafford Crown Court last week, all four men denied murder, but a jury found them all guilty anyway. Sukhmandeep Singh, a 23-year-old Indian man who was allegedly “the inside man” who transmitted information regarding Aurman’s delivery on the day he was killed, was convicted of manslaughter. He was the fifth guy of Indian descent to be found guilty.

The court was informed that Aurman Singh’s murder from the previous year had a big effect on the community, even though none of the individuals had any connections to Shrewsbury or the areas that West Mercia Police served. “We are immensely grateful for the assistance from local residents and those who supplied crucial information to aid with our investigation and gave testimony in court,” DCI Bellamy said.

“The decision rendered today should send a clear message to those who believe they can enter our towns and cities and commit violent crimes that we will not give up on tracking them down and bringing them to justice.” Police from all throughout the nation were participating in what the agency called a complicated inquiry. The family of Aurman Singh released a statement expressing their inability to find enough words to describe the profound effect the tragedy had on them.

“A mother will age today devoid of her son. Siblings grow up apart from each other. We do not want another family to experience what has happened to us. The family statement said, “It is an unbearable loss for us and has changed our lives.” “We shall spend our lives only for the purpose of living, but there is no enjoyment or drive to live. We would like to express our gratitude to the police for their thorough investigation and for helping us during this trying time, the statement said. No evidence that would have provided an explanation for the purpose behind the vicious assault on Aurman Singh surfaced throughout the trial.
