Nowadays, children want to be independent rather than serve as corporate slaves for others. Even though it could be more difficult and challenging, working individually is more rewarding and satisfying. Saumya Singh Rathore’s tale, who gave up a lengthy corporate job to pursue entrepreneurship, is one that is comparable. After she founded her business, it was valued at more than $300 million in only three years. They then hired well-known cricket players and one of India’s most recognizable celebrities to serve as their brand ambassador.

Saumya Singh co-founded WinZO in 2018 with Paavan Nanda, an IIM alumni, who had previous startup expertise since he had co-founded Zo Rooms. Even though it was Saumya’s first time launching a business, the two managed to establish a solid reputation for themselves in the Indian gaming market and quickly turned a profit.

The brand reaped significant benefits from the surge in the gaming sector that coincided with the pandemic lockdowns. $110.5 million in investment has been secured by WinZO from major players like as Courtside Ventures, Makers Fund, and Griffin Gaming Partners.

To give WinZO a big boost in 2022, they signed cricket great MS Dhoni as an endorser. They also earned the sponsorship of IPL team Kolkata Knight Rider (KKR) that year in a long-term arrangement. Well-known influencers like Bhuvan Bam and Carry Minati have also partnered with the business.

With the support of MS Dhoni, WinZO has become a well-known brand in the gaming industry, with more than 100 games across six formats and twelve languages.

These days, WinZO has a large workforce, which includes translators and micro-influencers. By 2022, WinZo had almost a lakh influencers making between Rs 75,000 and Rs 1 lakh, or perhaps Rs 5-10 lakh, a month. In a previous year, Rathore had said that they intended to increase the influencer base to two lakh.

according of July 2021, WinZo has a turnover of $366 million according per Tracxn, which translates to about Rs 3,000 crore, as of May 2023.

Saumya had been a professional psychologist before she turned to business. She worked in London for the Big Four firm KPMG after receiving her post-graduation degree from the University of Manchester in the United Kingdom. Before entering the startup environment, she subsequently held a variety of jobs in the Times Group of India.

At the age of 36, she has accomplished all of this. Along with Ghazal Alagh, she was listed as one of the youngest female entrepreneurs in India by IDFC First Bank and Hurun Report. With a staggering net worth of over Rs 520 crore, she is among the wealthiest women in Delhi NCR and among the top 100 richest women in India as of 2023.
