Meet the 7-year-old Indian prodigy who was employed by IIT as the “youngest surgeon in the world.”

Akrit Pran Jaswal is regarded by many as one of the most brilliant and bright children in the world. Born in Nurpur, Himachal Pradesh, Akrit showed talent from an early age. By the time he was ten months old, he was walking and talking. What’s even more amazing is that at the age of two, he was already writing and reading. Akrit’s remarkable abilities only become more potent as she got older. He was reading English classics meant for far older children at the age of seven. This was an impressive achievement, given that the majority of 7-year-olds have difficulty with fundamental arithmetic and science.

However, Akrit’s medical expertise was what truly set him apart from the competition. When Akrit performed surgery on an eight-year-old burn sufferer at the early age of seven, he immediately became well-known throughout the country. Being called the “youngest surgeon in the world,” he soon rose to fame and renown.

Akrit’s medical skill only grew with age; at the age of 12, he enrolled at Chandigarh University to study science, making him the “youngest university student” in India. He quickly started working with IIT Kanpur on cancer research, and because of his innovative work, the Chairman of Secondary Education in Dharamshala gave him support and direction.

Akrit’s outstanding qualities were also recognized on the world level. He was invited to go on the popular talk program presented by Oprah Winfrey, where he told his incredible experience and charmed millions of people with his humor and humility. At the age of 13, he had one of the highest IQs in his age group, further solidifying his image as a true prodigy. Despite all of his achievements, Akrit never wavered from his goal of using his gifts for the sake of others. He was pursuing a master’s degree in chemistry at the age of 17, determined to utilize his remarkable abilities to make a difference in the world.
