Rahul Mishra’s AFEW Makes A Magnificent Debut In The Dream City

World-famous artist Michaelangelo, Grand Finale designer for the House of Lakme, and renowned couturier Rahul Mishra brought his new luxury line, AFEW, to life with these words.

Following his emotional triumph at Paris Fashion Week in 2023, AFEW Rahul Mishra had a jubilant reception for his outstanding debut in Mumbai, India. Rahul’s collection Sculpt transformed the pavilion of the Jio World Convention Centre, articulating fashion via the captivating realm of art and design.

Rahul Mishra remarks, “This time around, it was an honour to showcase our global easy-to-wear luxury brand ‘AFEW Rahul Mishra’ for the first time in India. Presenting at Lakme Fashion Week X FDCI has always felt like a homecoming.” It was amazing to show audiences my Fall/Winter ’24 collection, titled ‘Sculpt.’

Rahul Mishra continues, “The beauty looks will define for the wearer a new approach to beauty, one that is personalised and sculpted to one’s face shape. The designs are inspired by the House of Lakme’s MultiSlayer Sticks.” We have always honored our Indian heritage at AFEW Rahul Mishra. Working with Lakmđ at the House of Lakmđ Grand Finale will usher in a new age in fashion and beauty, one that is influenced by nature as the ultimate sculptor, married to our global perspective on design.

Ayesha Kanga, a youthful and gifted performer, opened the event. Her tone-on-tone, shimmering white sequin ensemble was paired with monochromatic natural forms, echoing Rahul’s interpretation of Michaelangelo’s phrase about art emerging from a solid block of stone.

The models descended a rotating stage to reveal pieces crafted in white marble prints that resonated with the collection’s theme and Michaelangelo’s philosophy, creating an amazing style narrative on the temporary runway embellished with life-size sculptures.

One of Rahul’s greatest assets has always been his embrace of nature in all of its forms, and the 56 works in the exhibition complement his vision with an international viewpoint. Wearable art meets effortlessly stylish shapes in Rahul Mishra’s sculpture for AFEW. From marble-printed jackets and carved denim to modern sarees inspired by French painter Henri Rousseau, each combination told a creative story about nature, art, landscape, and culture.

Ananya Panday, the Lakme Brand Ambassador who transformed into the AFEW Rahul Mishra showstopper, showcased her endearing personality on the catwalk as she elegantly walked to the hit song Boom Boom. In addition to giving Ananya’s appearance a sculpted edge, the painstakingly hand-embroidered short dress with hand-cut and appliqued embellishments also provided AFEW Rahul Mishra with the ideal conclusion to the enchanted presentation.
