Solan University’s “art of drawing with light” photography workshop

Recently, Shoolini University’s School of Media and Communications held a session on “Digital Photography Techniques.”

Nitin Kumar Mengi, a professional photographer with over 15 years of experience, was the guest speaker. He was honoured with a Punjab Lalit Kala Academy State Award (2011).

Mengi stressed how important light is to photography and how it’s the foundation of every striking picture. He explained the connection between light and photography as well as the meaning of the term (photo means light, graphy indicates drawing) by saying, “Photography is basically drawing with light.” Mengi distinguished between mirrorless and digital DSLR cameras, elucidating technological details and throwing light on variables affecting file size fluctuations. He also discussed the significance of the CPU in a camera.

Mengi encouraged participants to develop their observational abilities and promoted starting off with gadgets that are easy for beginners to use while taking photos.
