Summertime breakfast ideas that keep you feeling full and rejuvenated

Summer is here and our bodies are aching for cool, light drinks to beat the heat. A drink of lassi, chaas, fruit juice, or a cool soda would never seem quite right in this oppressive heat and humidity, much alone tea or coffee. Summertime makes us less hungry because of the heat, humidity, and perspiration that discourage us from eating heavier foods like roadside stall momos. We are all looking for something light and energizing to start the day off on a positive note. Summertime breakfast ideas make use of cooling ingredients without sacrificing nutritional value. Here are some to give a go:

Fruit-Based Smoothies
This is not a meal to be consumed every day, but it works well on hot days when you would rather spend as little time in the kitchen as possible. Just throw in some ice, your preferred dairy, a little honey or maple syrup, and your favorite fruits—bananas, apples, berries, or coconut. Process until smooth, or freeze for a cool breakfast that tastes like ice cream made from fruit smoothies.

Yogurt with Poha
Poha is a satisfying summertime breakfast alternative that is light and only requires 15 minutes to make. For a satisfying and soul-nourishing start to the morning, serve this light breakfast with flavored yogurt. Serve your poha with buttermilk, chaas, lassi, or even iced tea for an extra delight.

Cold Oats for Overnight
What could be more satisfying than having breakfast ready for you when you get up? Just put the oats and your preferred milk in a dish or container, then stir in the fruits and honey. Add more fruits, chopped nuts, or coconut flakes over top, and chill for the night. If you’re short on time or just want to curl up with a nice book on a hot summer’s day, try cooled overnight oats.

Frittata
The simple frittata is the perfect choice for a nutrient-dense, high-protein, high-fiber breakfast. Add tomatoes, bell peppers, chopped carrots, and a sprinkling of cheese after whisking together two eggs. Add pepper and salt for seasoning. Cook the mixture in a skillet with a little butter or olive oil, or for a healthy version, make an air fryer frittata.
