A Canadian couple of Indian descent lost their daughter in a “suspicious” fire

Police in the Ontario province of Canada said that a “suspicious” fire that burned their house last week claimed the lives of an Indian-origin couple and their teenage daughter.

A news statement issued by Peel Police on Friday said that a house near the intersection of Big Sky Way and Van Kirk Drive in Brampton caught fire on March 7.

Investigators discovered what seemed to be human remains inside the destroyed home after the fire was put out, but at the time, it was impossible to determine how many people had died.

Three family members, Rajiv Warikoo, 51, Shilpa Kotha, 47, and their 16-year-old daughter Mahek Warikoo, were recognized by name on Friday from the burned remains.

Rajiv’s status as a volunteer cop in the force’s auxiliary program was verified by the Toronto police. In 2016, he concluded his work.

According to Rajiv’s LinkedIn page, the Ministry of Health of the Ontario government is his employer.

According to the authorities, they lived at the home prior to the fire. According to a news outlet, Peel police Constable Taryn Young said on Friday that the fire was considered suspicious. The Ontario Fire Marshal has determined that this fire was not accidental, therefore we are now looking into this with our murder bureau and considering it suspicious, Young said.

After the fire was contained, detectives conducted a search of the premises and found what they thought to be human remains.
