Abohar: Man killed by hacking, more than 20 arrested

Two people were being forced to return from a gasoline station at Sito Gunno village, which is 21 km away, by around 20 armed miscreants yesterday night. They were then taken to the government primary school nearby, where they were viciously assaulted with sharp weapons. One of the victims, Surinder Singh, passed away instantly, while his buddy Lovepreet Singh suffered severe injuries and was subsequently sent to Faridkot by the Abohar Civil Hospital after first assistance. According to reports from the preliminary inquiry, the miscreants fled the scene after murdering Surinder Singh but came back right away to strike him again, about twenty times.

After arriving at the scene, a team from the Wahabwala police station began an inquiry. According to the police, the deadly assault seemed to have been motivated by an old grudge.

Manga Singh, the brother of the dead, said that late on Saturday night, after work hours, he, his brother Surinder Singh, and a friend Lovepreet Singh were returning home from the gasoline station located in the hamlet of Koyal Khera. When they got close to Sito Gunno, approximately twenty young people were already there. They killed Surinder by attacking them with sharp weapons and forcing him to take his brother and buddy to the government primary school. Manga Singh said that he left the place.

Late in the evening, Lovepreet and the dead were taken by the police to the government hospital in Abohar.

SHO Wahabwala A case has been filed against Pawan Bhat, Neelkamal, Hardeep Ladia, Dharamveer, Kuldeep, Vishal, Raju Nanian, Pawan, Dharma, Rakesh, Bharat Thakur, Ravi residents of Sito Gunno, Kanwal, Vinod Khanna, Sonu residents of Sukhchain, Bindu Megh of Khairpur, Dharampal Guggi, Rakesh Raku residents of Sardarpura and Vikas of Kaluana, along with ten other people, according to Jaswinder Singh.

To find and apprehend the accused, many police units have been established.
