According to PM Modi, Netaji presented India as the birthplace of democracy

Prime Minister Narendra Modi stated on Tuesday that Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose’s struggle against the “mentality of slavery” has been the impetus behind India’s development and that the freedom fighter’s life and accomplishments are particularly noteworthy as sources of inspiration for the country’s youth.

Speaking during a Red Fort celebration honoring Bose’s 127th birthday, which is observed as “Parakram Diwas” since 2021, Modi stated: “Netaji exhibited India’s reputation as the global leader in democracy. The newfound pride and awareness ingrained in today’s Indian youth would have made him proud. I hope that this source of inspiration never fades.

Modi praised Netaji for his conviction in “strengthening India’s political democracy,” pointing out that the country’s progress was hampered by the ills of dynasty and nepotism in politics and that his vision came under heavy criticism after independence.

“Netaji had said that a solid basis for political democracy and democratic society is necessary if we are to build a great India. Unfortunately, his concept faced fierce opposition after independence. Following independence, India’s democracy was overtaken by ills like dynasticism and nepotism. This has also been a significant factor in India’s inability to grow at the proper rate, according to Modi.

A small number of families dominated the formulation of economic, political, and governmental policies. The nation is the one that bears the brunt of this crisis if anybody. The system that the women and adolescents had to deal with was prejudiced at every turn, he said.

The prime minister said that since taking office in 2014, his administration had advanced the ideas of “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas,” which he explained was consistent with Netaji’s vision of an advanced India.

“I think this is a blessing for us,” Modi said, “because the current government has done more work dedicated to Azad Hind Fauj [Indian National Army] than any other government in independent India.” As a “Vishwa Mitra,” or friend of the globe, India is occupied with uniting the whole world and striving to address global issues.

The Prime Minister emphasized the significance of the next 25 years for India and the need to devote every second of “Amrit Kaal,” the time leading up to the 100th anniversary of Indian independence, to national goals. “We need to be courageous and put in a lot of effort. Building a Viksit Bharat—a developed India—requires this. Every year, Parakram Diwas would serve as a reminder of this commitment, he said.

During the occasion, the prime minister also gave congratulations to Lt R Madhavan, who is regarded as the lone surviving member of Netaji’s IMA.

The Prime Minister said at the function that the government wants to see India developed by 2047 while making sure that elements like economic growth, cultural vitality, and strategic competence are maintained and strengthened.

It is imperative that we rise to the position of third economic power globally within the next five years, and we are well on our way to achieving this objective. Over the last ten years, over 25 crore [250 million] Indians have emerged from poverty as a result of the nation’s combined efforts and support. India is accomplishing objectives now that were unthinkable a few years ago, according to Modi.

Union ministers G Kishan Reddy, Arjun Ram Meghwal, and Meenakshi Lekhi were present at Red Fort for the ceremony, which also included a theater presentation and a short film about Netaji’s life and struggles during the liberation fight that was projected mapped.

Additionally, Modi announced the inauguration of “Bharat Parv,” an event that would take place from January 23 to January 31 and include displays of art and Republic Day Tableaux that highlight the nation’s diversity and highlight the work of 26 ministries and departments.

Modi also mentioned his advice from Monday’s dedication of the Ram Temple, saying that now was the moment to dedicate oneself to the work of the country rather than Ram’s labor. The Ram Temple event on January 22 has expanded the Republic Day week celebrations, which were formerly held from January 23 to January 30.

The universe and all of mankind felt the power and conviction of the Pran Pratishtha [consecration]. According to Modi, “these final few days of January are becoming incredibly inspiring for our republic, our patriotism, our faith, and our cultural consciousness.”
