After 36 hours, the Panchkula fire was put out

After beginning on Sunday morning, the Industrial Area, Phase 1 fire raged on today and was put out by the evening.

Fire authorities said they had lost count after claiming that on Sunday, more than 100 rounds were made to the waste site by fire tenders. The fire lasted for over 36 hours after it started.

At 6:55 a.m., the incident department got a call reporting the incident. By then, it had completely taken over the landfill next to a gas station.

“Our fire tenders managed to control the fire by Sunday evening, but they are still working at the site to ensure it is completely put off,” said Yashpal, an operator at the Panchkula Fire Station. The number of rounds that fire tenders have made to the station is unknown to us.

In order to contain the fire, the administration also asked the neighboring administrations in Chandigarh and Mohali for assistance.

Apoorva Chaudhary, Deputy Municipal Commissioner, said that everything was under control.

Due to a lack of processing facilities, Panchkula Municipal Corporation (MC) officials claimed that the municipal body had been unlawfully disposing of the city’s horticultural waste at the location for a considerable amount of time.

SDM Gaurav Chauhan and MC Joint Commissioner Simranjeet Kaur, two members of the committee that the district government appointed to investigate the cause of the fire, were not accessible for comment.
