Before the 2024 Lok Sabha Elections, CAA Will Be Implemented: Amit Shah

Under the direction of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the BJP would win 370 seats and the NDA more than 400 in the next Lok Sabha elections, forming the government for a third term in a row, Union Home Minister Amit Shah said here on Saturday.

Shah said that the results of the Lok Sabha elections are already known, and that even the Congress and other opposition parties are aware that they would once again have to sit on the opposition benches.

“We have revoked Article 370 of the Constitution, which granted the former state of Jammu and Kashmir a unique status. Thus, we think that the nation’s voters would grant the BJP 370 seats and the NDA over 400 seats,” Mr. Shah said at the ET NOW Global Business Summit in 2024.

When asked if the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) “believes in family planning but not in politics,” the home minister hinted that more parties might join the ruling coalition. The Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD), led by Jayant Choudhary, Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD), and a few other regional parties might join the National Democratic Alliance (NDA).

“Talks are going on but nothing has been finalized,” he stated in response to more questions about the SAD. According to Mr. Shah, the election of 2024 would be between development and those who provide just platitudes, rather than between the NDA and the opposition coalition in India.

When asked about Congressman Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Yatra, he said that the Nehru-Gandhi scion had no right to carry out the march since his party was in charge of the nation’s 1947 division.

Regarding the timeliness of the government’s white paper submission to Parliament, Mr. Shah said that it was essential because the nation has a right to know the devastation the United Progressive Alliance (UPA), headed by the Congress, left behind when it was forced out of office in 2014.

The state of the economy was dire in 2014 at that time. Scams might be found anywhere. There was a lack of foreign investment. We would have sent the incorrect message to the world if we had pulled out a white paper at that moment.

However, ten years later, our administration has brought in foreign investment, revitalized the economy, and eradicated all corruption. Thus, he said, “Now is the appropriate moment to release the white paper.

Regarding the Ram temple at Ayodhya, the home minister said that the national belief over the last 500–550 years was that the temple ought to be constructed at the birthplace of Lord Ram.

But he said, “the building of the Ram temple was not allowed due to the politics of appeasement and citing law and order.”

Regarding the Citizenship (Amendment) Act (CAA), Mr. Shah said that with the release of the relevant regulations, the 2019 law would be put into effect before to the Lok Sabha elections.

“We are inciting and misleading our Muslim brothers against the CAA.” Citizenship by implication (CAA) is solely intended for immigrants to India who fled persecution in Bangladesh, Pakistan, or Afghanistan. He said, “It is not for stealing anyone’s Indian citizenship.”

Regarding the Uniform Civil Code (UCC), Mr. Shah said that it is a constitutional agenda that was signed by Jawaharlal Nehru, the nation’s first prime minister, among other notables.
