Family dispute: The brother of West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee modifies position

Swapan Banerjee, also known as Babun, drastically changed his position shortly after West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee threatened to cut all links with her younger brother for preparing to run as an independent in the next Lok Sabha elections.

The CM’s younger brother dropped his threat in the afternoon after declaring in the morning that he could run as an independent from the Howrah Lok Sabha seat, where the Trinamool Congress has nominated former Indian football star Prasun Banerjee.

“I’m now in New Delhi. I’ll talk to the Chief Minister when I go back to Kolkata in a little while. She is both my older sister and my protector. She expressed her feelings. “I’ll speak with her and resolve the matter,” said Swapan Banerjee.

Opposition parties, however, have made fun of the family turmoil. Sibling rivalry is unavoidable in a party that lacks a fundamental political theory or philosophy, according to BJP leader Dilip Ghosh. “Members of the Trinamool Congress are only there to profit unfairly.” Thus, rivalry for control of the spoils and positions of authority is normal, according to Ghosh.

Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury, the president of the West Bengal Congress, said that the chief minister’s family was now affected by the internal strife inside the Trinamool Congress. “Such fights are inevitable when greed becomes the driving force of a political party,” he said.
