Bengal police have detained TMC neta Shahjahan Sheikh and accused Sandeshkhali

NEW DELHI: The West Bengal police on Thursday morning detained the main culprit and TMC leader, Shahjahan Sheikh, marking a major development in the Sandeshkhali molestation and land-grabbing case.

He was reportedly taken into custody from a home in North 24 Parganas’ Minakhan neighborhood.
According to SDPO of Minakhan Aminul Islam Khan, “TMC leader Shahjahan Sheikh was arrested by the West Bengal Police from the Minakhan area in North 24 Parganas.” Sheikh is scheduled to appear before the Basirhat court today at 2:00 PM.
After an Enforcement Directorate team that had gone to search his home was reportedly assaulted by a crowd, he was on the run for more than 50 days.
