BJP files a defamation lawsuit against Kejriwal and Atishi over claims of MLA poaching

In response to accusations that CM Arvind Kejriwal and minister Atishi broke the AAP by trying to steal their MLAs, a prominent BJP figure has launched a defamation lawsuit against them.

Pre-summoning evidence in this case is scheduled to be recorded on May 4 at the Rouse Avenue jurisdiction, Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Tanya Bamniyal’s jurisdiction.

On January 27, Kejriwal said that the BJP was trying to overthrow the elected administration of the city by poaching people. According to Kejriwal, the saffron party made touch with seven AAP MLAs and made an offer of Rs 25 crore for each of them to swap sides. According to Kejriwal, the BJP informed the AAP MLAs that he will be taken into custody shortly.

In an audio tape that Atishi claimed to possess, a “unknown” BJP politician is heard telling an AAP MLA about the “likely arrest of Kejriwal and the MLA-poaching plans.” In a few days, the recording will be released to the public, she stated. According to Atishi, the BJP politician can be heard in the video predicting that Kejriwal would be detained and that they will overthrow the AAP administration after his apprehension.

In a meeting with Delhi Police Commissioner Sanjay Arora, a delegation headed by BJP president Virendra Sachdeva requested an investigation into the claims.

When the Delhi Police’s Crime Branch visited Kejriwal and Atishi at their official homes on February 2, they attempted to serve both of them with a notice requesting that they provide any supporting documentation for their claims.

In a recent complaint to the court, Delhi BJP leader Praveen Shankar Kapoor, who also serves as the party’s media head, said that both Atishi and Kejriwal made baseless accusations.

The complaint also said that the AAP and the two accused individuals have been trying repeatedly to fabricate these petty and unfounded accusations against the BJP in order to give the false impression that the party is anti-democratic and that it would use illegal methods to overthrow the AAP-led government in Delhi.
