Burglars in Raghunathpur, Odisha, smash into an apartment and flee with Rs 10 lakh

The apartment robbers are at it again. In the most recent instance, on Thursday night, jewelry and cash valued at lakhs were stolen from the apartment of a tech couple in the state capital’s Raghunathpur neighborhood.

The couple reported to the police that items worth over Rs 10 lakh, including gold jewelry, cash, and foreign money, had been taken from their apartment while they were not there. Unknown criminals stole the items by breaking into the cabinets. Nandankanan police have filed a complaint in this regard, according to Bhubaneswar DCP Prateek Singh, and an inquiry has been started to find and apprehend the offenders.

In recent years, Raghunathpur has gained notoriety for crimes including theft and burglary. In November of last year, a bunch of armed miscreants had locked up a software engineer, his wife, and their two kids in their home and taken cash and belongings valued at more than Rs 6 lakh.

In a related incident, on Thursday night, money and gold jewelry were taken from a home in the Pahala neighborhood. The homeowners were there, according to the police, but they were unaware that the burglars had taken the items with them. At least four apartments in the Hanspal neighborhood in Pahala police boundaries were the scene of theft crimes on Monday night.
