DCA confiscates medication inventory valued at Rs 80,000

On Monday, the DCA carried out three different raids in connection with deceptive advertising, expensive medications, and an unlicensed cosmetics enterprise. Along with arresting two quacks, the authorities also took stocks worth Rs 40,000 from them.

In the first investigation, authorities raided “Life Slimming and Cosmetics Pvt Ltd” at 12 Road Banjara Hills, where the business was operating illegally and without a drug license. They found a significant amount of medications valued at Rs 40,000, including botox injections.

Fifteen different types of medications, including injections of vitamins, local anesthetic, adrenaline, and several infusions, were taken out of the shop.

In the second instance, the authorities discovered three Ayurvedic medications being marketed deceptively.

These included obekar capsules for obesity, PCOD (uterine capsules) for menorrhagia, dysmenorrhea, and uterine hemorrhage, and ortho joint oil for rheumatism and paralysis.

DCA Director General VB Kamalsan Reddy stated in an interview with TNIE, “We have registered cases against the manufacturers.” The individual who was discovered to be peddling these medications will testify against them. No complaints have been filed against them, and no legal action has been taken. Their jobs won’t be impacted by this either.

The third seizure, on the other hand, included overpriced antifungal medications, namely Itrakam-200 capsules, which were being sold for an exorbitant Rs 30.5, despite the MRP, as stipulated by the Drugs (Prices Control) Order, 2013, being Rs 22.12.

The defendants identified themselves as rural physicians. The authorities took from them fifty different types of medication supplies valued at Rs 40,000, including steroids.
