Former Minister: The globe was influenced by India at Nalanda

On Saturday, former Union Minister Karan Singh said that the idea that Buddhism was the only religion to leave India and enter other nations was untrue since Hinduism had also left India.

During his speech at the Asia on the Move conference, which took place at the India International Centre in this city, Singh cited Nalanda University as the best illustration of how India has impacted the globe over the course of seven centuries.

Manuscripts were taken away by travelers who visited Nalanda because the institution produced academics. We had to have several of the Chinese texts translated after we lost them, he added.

Singh cited the impact of Hinduism on the global scene and the Angkor Wat temple in Cambodia as evidence. The largest Hindu temple in the world is located in Cambodia and is called Angkor Wat. It must be observed. In Indonesia, there are several Hindu temples. Due to the destruction of temples during the Islamic conquest, India has seen some of the darkest periods in its history. Nonetheless, Indonesia, a nation dominated by Muslims, preserved and restored the Hindu temple. Fortunately, the Islam that spread there was not as ruthless as the Islam that swept over India, Singh said.

He claimed that before India gained its independence, in 1946, Jawaharlal Nehru, the country’s first prime minister, organized the inaugural Asian ties Conference because he recognized the value of friendly ties between India and other Asian nations.

He said that India had made a significant artistic and musical contribution to the globe. “I must thank Prime Minister Narendra Modi for establishing the International Day of Yoga, on which every country practices yoga,” he remarked.
