Haryana Is Planning a Metro Link to the National Cancer Institute to Increase Statewide Connectivity

Sanjeev Kaushal, the chief secretary of Haryana, said on Wednesday that the National Cancer Institute in Badsa, in the Jhajjar district, will be connected to Delhi with a metro train connection.

Kaushal was presiding over the board meeting of the Haryana Mass Rapid Transport Corporation (HMRTC), where he also serves as chairman.

In order to strengthen connectivity and improve public transportation options, the HMRTC is reportedly making significant progress on a number of metro projects around the state. Following his chairing of the board meeting, Kaushal said that the state government had made the decision to build a metro connection that will link NCI Badsa in the Jhajjar district with New Delhi.

A tertiary healthcare institution with a focus on cancer treatment is the National Cancer Institute (NCI). It is situated on the premises of AIIMS-II. According to the statement, he said that the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA) has approved a new ridership study that will be carried out by renowned consulting company M/s RITES in order to determine the potential demand for the route.

In order to accommodate the expanding transit needs in these regions, a techno-feasibility study to investigate the possibility of extending the current metro line from Ballabhgarh to Palwal, a distance of around 25 km, is now under way, he added. Regarding other projects, the statement said that M/s RITES was first contracted to draft a thorough project report for the Sector-56 to Panchgaon stretch (Gurugram); however, the project was then enlarged to include the Sector-56 to Vatika Chowk route. According to the announcement, this expansion is a step forward in improving metro connections inside Gurugram.

With a 36-kilometer length, the project successfully connects Panchgaon and Sector-56, Gurugram, meeting the growing transportation demands in the area. The project intends to provide complete coverage and easy access for commuters, with 28 elevated stations strategically placed along the route.

According to the statement, there are active efforts now to investigate the viability of building a double-decker bridge as a creative solution to space restrictions for a possible metro line between Faridabad and Gurugram. It said that the Government of India’s approval of the development of a metro line between Millennium City Center and Cyber City gave the Gurugram Metro Rail Project a major boost.

With this project, people’ growing mobility demands will be addressed and intra-city connections inside Gurugram will be greatly improved. On February 16, Prime Minister Narendra Modi attended a ceremony in Rewari, Haryana, and essentially laid the groundwork for the Gurugram Metro Rail project. Cyber City and Millennium City Center will be connected by this project. The project will be carried out by Gurugram Metro Rail Limited (GMRL), which has been created. Tenders have been released for important services, including geotechnical studies and detailed design consulting.

The Haryana government statement went on to say that D. Thara, Additional Secretary, Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, has also been nominated as Chairman of Gurugram Metro Rail Limited (GMRL). According to the statement, a study is also being conducted to determine if the current Rapid Metro system in Gurugram may benefit from the addition of 2.9-meter coaches, which could increase passenger capacity and system efficiency overall.
