Haryana will use music to encourage vote

With almost 3.65 lakh new voters in Haryana, the state election commission said on Tuesday that it will bring in musical groups to perform songs with election themes to inspire young people to cast their ballots and raise voter awareness and education.

We want to organize the first performance soon, ideally in Panchkula. The band is going to play songs inspired by the election. These bands will later be active in areas where the proportion of young voters is larger, according to Anurag Agarwal, chief electoral officer for Haryana.

Notably, voting for the sixth round of general elections, which will take place on May 25 in 10 Lok Sabha seats across the state, is open to 1,99,81,982 voters in total. There are more than 3.65 lakh voters in the 18 to 19 year old age group and more than 39 lakh votes in the 20 to 29 year old age group.

According to Agarwal, 70% of Haryana voters participated in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. But this time, he said, we want to increase it to at least 75%. In an effort to encourage voter enthusiasm, the Election Commission of India adopted “Chunav ka Parv – Desh ka Garv” as the campaign slogan for this year’s Lok Sabha elections.

Notably, the state election administration has implemented a number of novel innovations, such as the introduction of the “Voters-in-Queue” app, the mailing of polling invitations to voters in the style of marriage invites, and the installation of 31 polling stations in Gurugram’s multistory societies.

Voters may stay at home and use the “Voters-in-Queue” app to learn about the line at polling places so they can cast their ballots when the throng thins. According to him, the main goal of the software is to save voters’ time by removing the need for them to stand in lengthy lines.

In response to a query, he said that since the MCC went into action, law enforcement officials had so far found around Rs 27 crore worth of narcotics, alcohol, and missing currency in Haryana.
