High Court requests report in case of bizman

By the next hearing date, the Himachal Pradesh High Court has ordered the Special Investigation Team (SIT) to provide a new status report regarding a plea filed by businessman Nishant Kumar Sharma of Palampur, who is requesting police protection. A Division Bench made up of Chief Justice MS Ramachandra Rao and Justice Jyotsna Rewal Dua issued the ruling and scheduled a follow-up hearing for April 23.

In an email to the high court, businessman Nishant Sharma said that he and his family were being threatened with death because they were being assaulted in both McLeodganj and Gurugram. He requested judicial involvement, arguing that he was always afraid of being assassinated and that he required protection from influential individuals.

In its previous decision, the court had requested reports on the subject from the SPs of the districts of Kangra and Shimla, taking up the case suo moto.
